Main Responsibilities

  • The execution of all administrative, IT, and office operations support to Senior Management (President, VP Construction, Director of Finance) as needed.
  • Assist HR Management with hiring process including job postings, booking interviews and preparing written job offers.
  • Administration of all HR-related functions such as:  salaried payroll, maintaining personnel files including vacation tracking and all correspondence; maintaining site staff personnel files including Drivers Abstracts, Certifications, tracking Fuel Cards, and assigned Company-Owned equipment and assets; coordinating paperwork associated with hiring/firing/discipline of all employees; processing employee benefit forms.
  • Coordinate new employee orientation for office and field staff.
  • Assist Hiring Managers with new employee onboarding for office and field staff including assigning workstations and tools and contacting I.T. for new employee set up.
  • Perform exit interviews with staff as required.
  • Assist with the preparation and drafting of internal company policies, ensuring all staff is aware of said policies and acting as a resource for interpreting same.
  • Manage staff complaints in order to diffuse or escalate them as necessary.
  • Management and supervision of Receptionist position.
  • Maintain effective office systems and procedures, including; making informed decisions about purchases, implementing new procedures, managing suppliers, etc.
  • Negotiate office-related and cell phone contract renewals or new contracts when necessary.
  • Coordinate IT services, systems, requests, and purchases for all company phones, cell phones, computers, and other electronic equipment, and act as a liaison between IT & staff.
  • Ensure effective performance of office equipment, including computers and software, photocopiers and printers, and manage all maintenance issues.
  • Assist with annual insurance renewal with respect to fleet insurance.
  • Coordinate and manage company special events, including staff events and outings, and corporate wear.
  • Primary contact for building manager.
  • Projects as assigned by the President, VP Operations and Director of Finance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in office management, with a demonstrated ability for ongoing improvements to processes and overall efficiencies.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Human Resources an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ payroll experience, with Certified Payroll accreditation an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, complemented with strong client services skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage and prioritize a varied workload while ensuring that all deadlines are met.

Main Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate and reliable project estimates by gathering proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Identify labour, material, and time requirements and compute costs.
  • Responsible for all detailed takeoffs and technical analysis, including risk assessment and project schedules.
  • Assist with productivity analysis for bid preparation.
  • Assist with gathering technical/historical data for estimating and preparation of cost estimates on tenders.
  • Identify labour, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Prepare take-offs/calculate material quantities and input design/cost data to estimating software.

Main Responsibilities

  • Take lead role on projects, liaising directly with the client/owners, and be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the project on time and on budget.
  • Responsible for overall forecasting, cost management, contingency planning, and securing the profitability of the project.
  • Contribute technical direction to the pre-award process, planning, and estimating, and during construction, act as a technical resource for the project team.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, liaising with legal counsel and Estimating as appropriate in conjunction with the leadership team.
  • Review and approve ongoing progress billings.
  • Work with all on-site personnel, as required, to identify and resolve issues, ensure quality control, and support the overall project schedule and goals.
  • Work with the Operations team from the start of each project to ensure they understand the project scope – start-up, QC, LEEDS requirements, and project closeout forms.
  • Create and maintain project schedules in collaboration with General Superintendent and Project Coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain successful client/owner relationships on behalf of Conwest.
  • Prepare and process change orders and extra work orders with support as needed from the Estimating team.
  • Oversee scheduled deliverables with Operations.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company’s interests and maintain strong relationships with client.
  • Manage resources (manpower, equipment and materials) with operations from beginning to end with attention to budgetary limitations.

Requirments

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in civil construction including earthworks and underground utilities with at least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with superior interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Proficient with Timberline, Bluebeam, Agtek, Microsoft Project, Adobe, and all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Post-secondary education Degree (i.e. Project Engineering, Project Management, Civil Engineering Technology).

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, organization, and quality control of the project while assisting to provide ongoing supervision and mentorship of project staff.
  • Assist Project Managers with all project management tasks, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Ensure all documents, drawings, etc. are organized, filed electronically, and distributed to all Project Managers.
  • Oversee accurate completion of all site paperwork including time sheets, dailies, invoices, and work records for accurate cost coding to applicable contract items.
  • Review the timely and accurate capture of project costs; prepare progress billings including extra work and all supporting documents, and final certificates of completion.
  • Maintain and distribute site records, post records to company document management system, and assemble documents to support claims.
  • Process change orders, obtain quotes, and assess costs and impacts to project schedule.
  • Assist with project completion close-outs.

Requirements

Main Responsibilities 

  • Manage key field and professional staff responsible for project construction, including all scheduling.
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Mentor Foremen and field staff as required to both maintain the quality of Conwest’s work and to contribute to their development and career growth.
  • Ensure Foreman/Grade Person have a complete understanding of project scope and methodology.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of field personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within a prescribed budget and adheres to environmental restrictions and requirements.
  • Manage and maintain strong working relationships with project partners and stakeholders.
  • Allocate resources where appropriate to achieve project safety, schedule, budget, scope, and quality objectives.
  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to determine construction plan with input from Foremen.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in civil construction including earthworks and underground utilities with at least 5 years’ experience in an upper management supervisory capacity.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with superior interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Experienced with Timberline, Bluebeam, Agtek, Microsoft Project, Adobe, and all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be a proficient scheduler and planner.
  • A proven track record of successful project completions or portfolio.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring a strong job start-up including gaining a complete understanding of the project, the budget, scheduling requirements, and crew requirements prior to project start.
  • Manage project scheduling, daily work requirements, daily paperwork, crew, and contract payment items on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinate production goals, targets, and scope, and troubleshoot problem areas with Site Superintendent.
  • Communicate regularly with Site Superintendents, Project Managers, and General Superintendent when required.
  • Pre-schedule for all materials and resources to arrive in advance and manage project scheduling to ensure the timely arrival of all materials, resources, and sub-contractors.
  • Accurately complete daily paperwork, QC forms, time sheets, and other applicable paperwork with attention to detail.
  • Conduct daily tail-gate meetings and monitor crew to ensure safety standards are upheld.
  • Monitor cost targets with Superintendent and report any anomalies.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Foreman or Lead Hand in civil construction including earthworks and underground utilities.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Possess a demonstrated ability to lead and direct construction teams, analyze issues, and bring innovative solutions to achieving work plan objectives.
  • Must be a proficient scheduler and planner.
  • Must work well under pressure.

Main Responsibilities

  • Establish construction line and grade for all proposed utilities based on the stake layout provided by the Surveyor.
  • Clearly communicate with all crew members to ensure that all utilities are installed in their correct location.
  • Work with Foreman and utility locator and/or locator subcontractor to establish layout and control of all existing utilities.
  • Accurately record all as-built information for both new and existing utilities into the field book, and transfer the information onto the project record drawings.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in civil construction including earthworks and underground utilities would be an asset.
  • Ability to use survey instruments (i.e.: rotary laser, transit, spirit levels) to establish correct line and grade for earthworks, underground utilities, and roadworks.
  • Experience using total stations and GPS equipment would be an asset.
  • Ability to thoroughly read, understand, and interpret civil construction plans and drawings.
  • Ability to work with the engineer and the surveyor to solve problems.
  • Ability to achieve correct grade by directing equipment operators to adjust grade by moving earth, gravel, and other materials.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
  • Must be willing to become a member of CLAC and participate in available training programs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Pre-locate existing utilities and work with heavy equipment to ensure that existing utilities are exposed without contact.
  • Installation of underground utilities to designed grades and applicable construction standards including storm, water and sewer mains, Hydro, Telus, and Shaw ducting, and all other services.
  • Utilize certified shoring methods to provide a safe excavation for entry.
  • Set up pipe laser and work with Grade Person to establish proper design grade.
  • Organize all tools and equipment required for the job at the beginning of the shift, maintain and organize throughout the shift, and ensure all tools are properly stored/secured at end of shift.
  • Digging with excavator to ensure trench grade, bedding depths, and backfill are installed correctly.
  • Lay pipe to design grade ensuring proper tamping of pipe.
  • Bolt up mechanically restrained fittings, valves, and pipe to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Cut concrete and set manholes, box culverts, chambers, etc. for different applications including live utility main overbuilds.
  • Notify Foreman of any installation conflicts immediately.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Foreman.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience as either a pipe layer or skilled laborer in a utilities installation setting including extensive experience with the installation of storm, water, and sanitary main and services as well as the installation of Hydro, Telus, and Shaw.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of tools and equipment required for the job.
  • Be completely familiar with cutting/beveling pipe.
  • Possess a strong understanding of safe excavations and WorkSafeBC guidelines for excavation requirements, and can work around excavation equipment and in tight areas safely.
  • Know how to assemble and install shoring or trench cages in excavations as required.
  • Have an understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
  • Ability to thoroughly read, understand, and interpret civil construction plans and drawings.
  • Ability to work under pressure in some situations.
  • Must be willing to become a member of CLAC.
  • Must be local and have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract.
Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operating a wide variety of equipment which may include: backhoe excavator, loader, bulldozer, front end loader, skid steer, trucks, compactor, and other pieces of equipment.
  • Tasks may include: fine grading and finishing; landscaping; sloping and benching; backfilling; ditching; excavating; rough grading; stumping; sub-grade excavating; sub-grade rolling, and material handling.
  • Review tasks with Foreman to ensure adequate approach and construction methods, and discuss any perceived problems in a constructive manner to arrive at a resolution.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain equipment including, but not limited to, greasing, shoveling tracks, cleaning windows and cab interior.
  • Complete daily paperwork including fuel reports, inspection reports, and time cards detailing machine hours as well as time worked, etc. as required.
  •  Conduct thorough safety and maintenance inspection when assigned to a new machine.
  • Immediately report any mechanical defects, safety defects, and/or existing damage to Foreman.
  •  Ensure equipment is in safe working order and that safety tools are installed at all times.
  •  Secure appropriate special attachments to equipment including, but not limited to, safety wedges.

Requirements

  • Heavy Equipment Operator trade certification, valid driver’s license, and clean drivers abstract. Air brake endorsement and some college, vocational, or technical training an asset.
  •  Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
  •  Current safety tickets an asset.
  •  Must be well familiar with attachments including their use, maintenance, and safety requirements.
  • Must be able to work well within a union environment and be willing to join CLAC.
  •  Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications an asset.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing daily job requirements.
  • Excellent observation skills, a strong attention to detail, and good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Must be local and have own transportation.
