- Works directly with CWC Executive Management team, Operations Manager, Equipment Manager, Estimators and Project Management teams, Site Superintendents, Foremen and Accounting and Finance as part of a collaborative team-based culture.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversees project controls for construction projects including overall forecasting, cost management, contingency planning, resulting in achieving profitability of the project.
- Meets regularly with the Director of Construction to discuss progress on projects and conduct monthly project cost reviews and forecasts.
- Contributes technical direction to the pre-construction process for planning and estimating tasks, and acts as a technical resource for the project team during construction.
- Coordinates project team members for the project.
- Reviews, understands and facilitates the execution of project contract, liaising with legal counsel and Department Managers as appropriate.
- Leads procurement activities for projects such as negotiations with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors prior to job start up.
- Ensures all components of front-end duties are completed prior to the project start date.
- Accountable for the timely and accurate submission of progress billings and support for receivables collections.
- Works with all on-site personnel as required to identify and resolve issues, ensure quality control, and support the overall project schedule and goals.
- Creates and maintain project schedules in collaboration with project team.
- Ensures required permits, licenses, and other work-related necessities are in-place during and prior to project start-up.
- Upholds project safety expectations while maintaining safety standards in all aspects of each project.
- Ensures health, safety, and environmental standards are being achieved.
- Accountable for the timely reporting of monthly project cost reviews and forecasts.
- Develop and maintains successful client/owner relationships on behalf of Conwest.
- Timely identification and preparation around process change orders and extra work orders.
- Organize and chair meetings with clients/owners, architects, consultants, external stakeholders, and project team members as required.
- Attend site meetings as required.
- Manages project risk register and ensures mitigation plans are in place as required.
- Understands the commercial aspects of contracts to protect the company’s interests and maintain strong relationships with client.
- Manages resources (manpower, equipment and materials) on projects from beginning to end with attention to budgetary limitations.
- Leads project closeout procedures, finalizing contract paperwork and working with management to resolve any project claims.
- Leads project debrief cycle to review all aspects of project work and completion.
- Set a productive, consistent, and professional work example while supporting and promoting published Conwest Contracting policies and core values of safety, quality, integrity, sustainability, and success.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in civil construction of various infrastructure projects such as earthworks, roadbuilding, excavation & shoring, and underground utilities.
- Must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, both verbal and written with superior interpersonal, relationship and organizational management skills.
- Must be approachable and capable of working efficiently with an open-door policy.
- Possess a demonstrated ability to lead and direct projects, analyze issues, and bring innovative solutions to achieving work plan objectives.
- Must be people oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clients.
- Proficient with software such as HCSS Suite, Bluebeam, Agtek, Spectrum, Microsoft Project, Adobe, and all Microsoft Office programs.
- Knowledge and understanding of unionized labor environment an asset.
- Valid Driver’s License Required.
- Post secondary education with a degree in construction management, civil or structural engineering preferred.
